Why the honoree chose the book
This text includes courageous personal narratives from 18 chapter authors and the editor, exploring how their personhood, sociocultural identities, and lived experiences impact their music therapy practices. When reading, I was moved by the authenticity of the authors, inspired to know our profession is evolving, and aware of much work to be done! When sharing this text with senior music therapy students, I hope they might find some of their own experiences reflected in these authors' stories and find inspiration to practice music therapy while embracing their wholeness.
