Why the honoree chose the book
The body of work of Sylvia Wynter, cultural theorist and fellow Jamaican scholar, is a significant contribution to the intellectual canon. Her voice impacted my journey, giving me a sense of belonging as a minoritized AfroCaribbean scholar and practitioner in education. This work symbolizes the valuable and powerful impact of diverse and underrepresented voices' contribution to humanizing education, empowering and engaging others with our lived experiences. This is critical to moving education forward for our next generation of students.
