Why the honoree chose the book
This book is a collection of essays, articles, and speeches by one of my all-time favorite psychologists. It demonstrates how core skills of conceptual analysis and quantitative thinking can be applied to make progress on difficult problems and even transform entire disciplines. It inspired me to tackle a difficult research problem in my own area, which became the most rewarding research program of my career (so far).
