Abstract
Our purpose in this essay is to discuss briefly the problematic of women's presence to the institutional Church. First we will consider in general the modes of presence that women have developed in organizational patterns in our culture. Then we will turn our attention to the Church and its developing organizational patterns since the Apostolic age, and the changes brought about thereby, in the role of woman and her mode of presence to and in the Church. Finally, we will address ourselves to the present and the changing situation of women today. In order to move into this plan we need first to examine the terminology describing the essay.
