Abstract
What is the meaning of woman in the New Testament? Does she have a value and dignity different from man? Is there some concern in the ethic of the New Testament community for her as a person? Is the atmosphere of the early Christian community one that differs from the clusters of other cultures which surrounded woman in the time of Jesus? If there are some values in the New Testament in relation to woman, what are they? Are all these values only seen in the exceptional treatment that Mary, the Mother of Jesus. receives from St. Luke and St. John? How can we find an image, or an idea or concept which may help us to understand woman as Jesus understands her? What are the plain facts about woman in the New Testament?
