Abstract

Almost a half century ago Lord Blake wrote a definitive biography of the early twentieth century statesman, Andrew Bonar Law, which he entitled, The Unknown Prime Minister. But if any British political figure deserves that sobriquet it would be Archibald Philip Primrose, Fifth Earl of Rosebery.
