Abstract
Being both a priest and a political scientist, I believe that these two disciplines provide a unique nexus for placing into proper perspective the place of human beings in nature. There have been many theories which have sought to describe this relationship with accuracy, but, by definition, they remain only theories. I would like to offer a brief summary of the major theories, then offer my own analysis of their comparative validity, in the hope that this will help both to focus our discussion and stimulate intellectual exchange during this symposium.
