About the author: Father Edward O'Connor, C.S.C., Chairman of the Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, is a past President of the Mariological Society of America. In 1959, he received the Marian Library Award for his work "The Dogma of the Immaculate Conception: History and Significance."
