Abstract
The Welcome Dayton initiative undertaken by the City of Dayton (Ohio) aims to provide equal opportunities for immigrants in Dayton, OH. Our paper will assess the Welcome Dayton initiative and its progress since its inception in 2011. This human rights issue is not one dimensional; it will involve all five of Sen’s freedoms (i.e., social, economic, and cultural as well as civil and political). Our research will require us to define who is affected by the initiative, how they are affected and determine recommendations for this program’s success in the Dayton region. We will conduct interviews of those within the community involved with the Welcome Dayton initiative. Our assessment will include the impact on organizations, individuals and local government.
