Publication Ethics Statement

Oncology Rehabilitation in Practice is dedicated to ethical publishing practices. Authors are expected to adhere to publication ethics along with principles of good scientific practice. Below are guidelines related to ethical publishing.

Authors must have contributed significantly to submitted articles. All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship as recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and all those who qualify should be listed.

Submitted articles may not be published elsewhere nor should they be under consideration by any other journals or publications.

Submitted articles should not contain content that may be considered libelous or infringe in any way on the intellectual property rights or other rights of any individual or entity. Authors are required to secure any necessary permissions to include copyrighted material in their article, and to provide any other information requested by the editorial board such as disclosures of conflicts of interest or funding sources. Appropriate citation of other’s work is expected as well as proper acknowledgement of contributions by others to the work.

Submitted articles must contain original work; results must be clearly stated without fabrication or falsification. When an author discovers an error or inaccuracy in their own published article, it is the author’s responsibility to immediately notify the Editor and cooperate with the Editor to retract or correct errors. Authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscript, even those parts produced by an artificial intelligence (AI) tool, and are thus liable for any breach of publication ethics. Researchers and authors should note that artificial intelligence (AI) authoring tools do not meet the standards required for authorship as defined by the ICMJE. Specifically, the ICMJE recommendations require that every author be “…accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.” As such, AI bots may not be listed or included in the author list.  Additional transparency about the use of AI in the research process must be disclosed.

The Editorial Board of Oncology Rehabilitation in Practice will investigate allegations or concerns of unethical practices according to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
